The Guide to Periodic Training provides information (including application forms) for those in the LGV and PCV sector who are delivering, or intending to deliver, the Periodic Training aspects of the Driver CPC, EU Directive 2003/59 in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
The Guide to Periodic Training is as comprehensive as possible but should not be taken as a complete or authoritative statement of the law.
All applications for centre and course approval must be submitted to the JAUPT in order to gain approval for Periodic Training. Every course and centre will be assessed according to set criteria before approval or re-approval is granted.
JAUPT, on behalf of the Driving Standards Agency, will process all personal data you supply for the purpose of assessing applications, approving training centres and courses, maintaining centre and trainer records and overall management of the approvals process. All personal data will be handled securely in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998.
To view PDF files you need Adobe Reader. The program is freely available if you do not already have it.

The following documents are in PDF format and can be completed electronically, printed and posted, or emailed to JAUPT. Please note that currently the course layout is only one page therefore please feel free to develop your own version ensuring that all required information is present.
Please note that the JAUPT requires copies of the Policies listed in Section D in order to appropriately assess the application form.
FAIR PROCESSING NOTICE - As your organisation is collecting personal data, to operate in compliance with the Data Protection Act (1998) you must issue a Fair Processing Notice to data subjects (trainees). This must inform the person of the purpose for the collection of data and the identity of who, if anyone, you will be sharing it with. Your Fair Processing Notice must therefore inform trainees that your organisation will share their data with the DSA, for the purpose of recording completed training hours. The inclusion of this information in your Fair Processing Notice may be checked as part of future audits.
The Joint Approvals Unit for Periodic Training (JAUPT) recommends that the data subjects (trainees) are informed of the Fair Processing Notice before the Periodic Training course commences by both verbal and written methods i.e. This notice may be covered verbally with a supporting written Fair Processing notice - this may be included within a Power Point Presentation or within a handout for example.
Please note that in order for JAUPT to accept Annex 8 and 9 - Certificates of Experience as valid evidence they will required a signature.
